As I do more and more stuff in my community, and more and more online I wanted a place I could dump my thoughts and observations about things there that was separate to my blog where I dump random photos and thoughts about parenting and life.
I hope to write about both real world and digital activities, we’ll see how long it lasts. I live in Wednesfield, Wolverhampton and things I’m currently involved with are:
Co-founded and run the Wednesfield Hyperlocal blog Wv11.co.uk
Set up the first and continue to be involved with the Wolverhampton Social Media Surgery.
I am Vice Chair and Secretary of Hands On Wednesfield – a community group we formed to continue some of the work of the LNP after the council had to make cuts to the service.
Trustee of Ashmore Park Community Association, a charity that makes things happen for Ashmore Park and has been responsible for the development, and subsequently the running, of the Hub at Ashmore Park – Where I help with the management of events, run the film club and co ordinate our fortnightly youth club as well as input to the general running of the centre.
Previously I was:
Board member for the Local Neighbourhood Partnership (LNP) where at this moment in time I am also sit on a community arts panel for a central arts project and an “events” committe – to help organise things like the Christmas lights switch on events.
Regularly attend both the Wednesfield North and Wednesfield South PACT meetings where I live tweet for WV11.co.uk and input as a resident
I’m a panel member for the Wednesfield South Community First Funding Panel, with the Community Development Fund (where I also help keep the website up to date – and help support our neighbours the Fallings Park and Low Hill Panels with their websites)
Member of the parents panel for my son’s school
Committee member (and secretary/note taker) for the Ashmore Park Community Together group – a group of community member who have come together to organise a fun day to celebrate the Queens Diamond Jubilee.
I think that’s it unless you count me helping to teach my crazy but lovely neighbours how to use their computers!
